BIO
Born in 1974 in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Jaime Díaz has never known a life without art. From an early age, he transformed whatever surrounded him into tools for creating—drawing, painting, and inventing worlds that reflected his boundless imagination. At just twelve years old, he was accepted into the prestigious Central Specialized School of Visual Arts, an award-winning magnet institution where he began painting murals for educational facilities and private clients. These formative years allowed Díaz to expand his artistic vocabulary, immersing himself in drawing, painting, sculpture, design, and graphic arts—disciplines that would later shape his multifaceted creative identity.
Guided by an unyielding passion for artistic exploration, Díaz pursued studies in interior design, advertising, commercial art, and architecture at the University of Puerto Rico in 1992. During this time, he flourished as a muralist, cartoonist, graphic artist, interior designer, architectural illustrator, and scene designer for corporate events. By the early 2000s, a pivotal opportunity propelled him into festivals, cultural initiatives, private collections, and thematic exhibitions. His work quickly gained recognition for its versatility, avant-garde spirit, and its joyful, immersive experience.
In 2019, Díaz opened his own gallery, D’galeria, in Fajardo, Puerto Rico—a space dedicated to artistic diversity and the presentation of powerful, thoughtful collections from both local and international creators. His artworks are held by Puerto Rican mayors, physicians, public figures, and boutique hotels across the island. He has been commissioned by the Muscular Dystrophy Association and has collaborated extensively with nonprofit organizations to share the healing and transformative qualities of art with communities facing difficult moments.
Díaz remains a vocal advocate for the profound impact art has on daily life. He has collaborated with both international and national nonprofit organizations—including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Corazón Latino, Foundation for Puerto Rico, Para la Naturaleza, and CROMÁPOLIS, among others. This collaborated projects speak to his belief that art is not merely seen—it heals, it comforts, it restores.
My work is a living organism—constantly shifting, expanding, and reinventing itself. I move between mediums and themes as one moves between dreams, carrying traces of yesterday into the visions of tomorrow. Some mornings, ideas arrive fully formed; others, they wait quietly, asking to be discovered.
There are moments when I slip away from reality and let myself be absorbed by the secret language of strokes and pigments.
Intensity, rhythm, and movement guide my hand. Lines unfold like echoes, colors breathe, and shapes reveal an emotional truth meant not only to be seen, but felt.
I create for the viewer who seeks connection—someone who looks at art in search of empathy, reflection, and a mirror to their own inner landscape.
